Huntington Theatre Company and Leggat McCall Properties Advisory Services Group have awarded this prestigious project to Dacon on a design/build basis.
Huntington Theatre’s set and prop shop presently located next to the Boston University Theatre, home to Huntington Theatre since 1982, was purchased in May of 2016 by QMG Huntington, LLC who plans to redevelop the property occupied by the set and prop shop. Redevelopment plans and fund raising are ongoing to renovate the existing theatre where Huntington will stay. At the announcement of the project, Mayor Marty Walsh stated, “The bottom line is, the Huntington Theatre is here to stay, where it belongs on Huntington Avenue.”
The set and prop group are relocating to a 45,000 SF industrial building located at 46 Garden Street in Everett, MA. This renovation project encompasses building upgrades to the leased premises, a new freight elevator is being installed to service this multi-story facility. A large paint booth area with the appropriate exhaust for HVAC and make-up air is included in the build-out. A welding shop, high-bay assembly area for stage backdrops and sets, employee lockers, cafeteria and supporting office space, complete the project. Occupancy of the building is scheduled for this summer.
Leggat McCall Properties, Owner’s Representative and Advisory Services Group is led by Megan Pasquina and Jerry Yankauskas; John F. Cremmen of Denenberg Realty Advisors brokered the deal on behalf of Huntington Theatre.
