As Rhode Island's first healthcare system, Lifespan covers a continuum of care across medical conditions. As a not-for-profit entity, Lifespan consists of multi-specialty practices, teaching and community hospitals offering integrated healthcare. Expanding into central Rhode Island, this project's focus was to bring an urgent care center to a large-scale population on a local level.
The merits of this project focuses on time efficiencies, manageable cost and a layout that ensures patient privacy without forsaking a social environment. Union Studio's design centers on private exam rooms radiating around a central nurses' station, accommodated by common spaces, office and supply storage rooms.
