Challenge
The nation’s largest provider of aftermarket auto collision parts, LKQ sought a new facility to localize costs and fulfill increases in East Coast demand. To accommodate long-term growth, 2 critical areas needed to be addressed – creating maximum storage space while accommodating a high amount of docking stations within a limited footprint.
Design Build Value
This project necessitated maximizing spatial efficiencies to grow operations. To enable greater storage, a 40 FT clear stud height was built for racking systems. Whereas typical loading docks are placed at 6,000 SF, here they were positioned every 1,800 SF, tripling loading capabilities to 20 stations. This new facility enables the company to maximize long-term operational efficiencies, thereby supporting their goal of being the leading value-added auto parts distributor in America.
